Nutritional Coaching

Behind every Team GB Olympian success story is the coach. Rarely framed by the
camera lense they are the unsung heroes pushing their athlete to podium success.
Achieving symptom relief be it freedom from IBS, migraines or Eczema is no mean
feat and cannot be done alone that,s why here at YorkTest every FoodScan 113 food
intolerance buyer is helped by our inhouse nutritional coach Sheila Boyde.
An ex Commonwealth Games athlete, Sheila Boyde represented Great Britain at the
1990 Commonwealth Games in Auckland as a marathon runner, the highlight of a glittering
career that also took in running for England on a number of occasions as well
as being part of the Olympic team in 1992. But of course, the real highlight
is her work here at YorkTest!
Sheila says: “As an international athlete you are pushing your body to its very
limits both in training and competition. As Brendon Foster once said you are
tired all the time as a top class athlete! The experiences though for me are truly
memorable and I will never forget the feeling in the Commonwealth Games village
seeing all the top athletes that I had at one time watched on TV such as Sebastian
Coe and Sally Gunnel. I could literally feel the goose bumps on the back of my
neck with the excitement. I felt honored to be part of the games and in the company
of so many outstanding athletes.”
Now you too can benefit from Sheila’s experience. As our Head Nutritionist, when
you take our 113 FoodScan test, you will receive two consultations with Sheila
or one of her team of top BANT (British Association for Applied Nutrition and
Nutritional Therapy) registered nutritionists, who will go through your results
and find the best ways for you to incorporate the necessary changes into your
diet. As Sheila says; “When working as a Nutritionist I look at each person as
an individual as what suits one person may not suit another, plus it also depends
on the amount of exercise the individual is doing on a daily basis to what quantities
they need.”
“I became a Nutritionist when I realized that my life as a full time athlete
would probably be coming to an end and I felt the need to use my brain and not
just my legs, as the saying goes ‘use it or lose it!’ My passion to go into this
field also came about due to my own health issues, which went undetected for too
many years with detrimental affects on my general health and working life. I
wanted to understand how the body worked better and help others avoid the years
of unnecessary poor health and so embarked on a three year course at the Institute
of Optimum Nutrition in London with the now famous Patrick Holford, the founder
of the college being my tutor in those days.”
